Parasang

Pouya Ehsaei: Electronics

Mona Matbou Riahi: Klarinette

Co-founded by Pouya in 2018,  Parasang is a live and electronic dance music event inviting musicians from London's diverse musical communities to play with Pouya in the context of electronic dance music. Through Parasang, Pouya has collaborated with over 70 musicians from around the globe. Pouya’s musicianship at Parasang is generous and flexible, making space for and responding to the musicians who accompany him.
Parasang started as an exploration of London's diverse musical communities and is now investigating  similar possibilities on an international level. It is led by Pouya Ehsaei on with an  all hardware setup. The series draws influence from diverse musical communities, inviting guest musicians to improvise and interact with electronics. The series is co-curated by Pouya Ehsaei and Harry Follett of Manana//Records.
During the pandemic, Pouya developed a system where he could continue playing with musicians remotely over the internet. The performances were streamed on Youtube and Twitch in Real-time. During these remote performances Pouya started collaborating with contemporary dancers. He has continued to incorporate dance into his performances ever since. Parasang also has been appeared at the  festivals like Brainchild Festival and Per Anhalter as a jam session where musicians from the festival would join Pouya for a immersive and hard-hitting conclusion to the festival.

HUUUM

Rojin Sharafi: Electronics
Omid Darvish: Stimme
Alvaro Callao Leon: Saxophone

HUUUM is synonymous with synthesis, openness, substance and avid noncompliance. The live project of Omid Darvish, Rojin Sharafi and Alvaro collao león merges Folk-influenced Iranian vocals with free jazz, ambience and electronic beats and impulses, bringing us dance music of an entirely new kind. Atypical rhythms and microtonal music, singing in multiple languages, sensitive improvization, and the interlacing of artforms and cultures - HUUUM leads with transcension and lands with movement. To Iran’s ban on dance, HUUUM is the definitive response. It is the domain of the unknown, the unlearned, and the unapologetic that envelops this project, with nothing to stop it but the club’s last call.
